In Germany we say: There is no bad weather, just bad clothing. But sometimes you just don’t want to get wet, right? Or maybe you don’t own a Raincoat yet (Pro-Tipp: Buy one! You won’t regret the purchase this autumn and winter). But anyways, here are my recommendations for indoor things to do in Kiel — the Sports and Wellness Edition.

And if you’re not in an active mood, check out the Arts & Culture Edition.

1. Have lots of fun at the Jumphouse

Wait, isn’t that just for children? Definitely not! At the „Sprung Raum“ you will find over four thousand square meters full of trampolines, courses and play opportunities. I have to admit, there are many children and you might be the oldest jumping around. But it’s super fun and a great workout — even if it looks very easy when the kids do it.

Costs: 15,50 € / hour (plus 3.50 for non-slip socks)

What to wear: Sportswear. But you don’t need shoes, because you’ll get socks.

Pro-Tipp: You can book max. 120 min (29€). But I would recommend to start with an hour (15,50€) — it is exhausting.

2. Start a table tennis tournament at „FiZ“

Actually, FiZ is a fitness center, but it also offers a few table tennis tables and one badminton court. It’s the perfect place to stay active on a rainy day, whether you’re up for a fast-paced game of badminton or a fun round of table tennis with friends.

Costs: 9€ (day ticket) – if you are not a member

What to wear: Sportswear and clean indoor shoes.

Pro-Tipp: Table tennis bats can be borrowed from the counter, but you must bring your own balls. And bring a lock for the locker.

3. Try Bouldering at „Urban Apes“

Bouldering is great because it requires not only physical strength but also brainpower. Every hold becomes a puzzle that needs to be solved as you approach the top step by step. It’s also a great way to concentrate fully on the moment and clear your head. Sounds fun, but you’ve never done bouldering before? No problem at all. Urban Apes has lots of climbing routes for beginners and also rental shoes. So you don’t have to invest in expensive equipment right away.

Costs: 11,90 € (Students), 16,90 € (normal price) + 3,50€ for the shoes. No cash, just card!

What to wear: Sportswear. But not your best set, because the walls are scratchy and can damage your clothes.

Pro-Tipp: There are lockers for your stuff, but you have to bring your own lock.

4. Sweat at the „Rune Sauna“

The Rune sauna is the perfect place to relax your muscles. Or (depending on time and date) do a session of yoga, then go to the sauna and jump into the Förde at the end. There are also some meditation sessions and every Thursday between 5 and 9 pm you can even eat pizza in the sauna!

Costs: 12€ (for one hour)

What to wear: Swimwear

Pro-Tipp: Bring a lock with you. And there are no changing rooms, only public ones at the Förde. So it’s best to put on your bikini or swimming shorts at home.

As you can see, there are a lot of cool things to do in Kiel, even if it’s raining.
