Every person is unique and thus ensures diversity in our society. The concept of #diversity takes up this diversity and advocates the recognition and appreciation of all people. It therefore concerns everyone!
Social and economic trends are changing our working world. Demographic development, globalization, changing values, declining employment figures, a growing proportion of working women, more people with a migration background – these are the conditions under which companies and institutions operate today.
So it is important for every company to do diversity management.
It not only helps to adapt to social and economic trends. By taking diverse perspectives into account, diversity management creates an important prerequisite: It imparts the competence to work successfully together in diverse work groups with different talents. In this way, successful diversity management demonstrably achieves better results in problem solving, research and development.
As well as being a political and moral imperative, diversity is proven good for business:
- Companies with more diverse management teams have 19% higher revenues due to innovation
- Executive boards in the top quartile of gender and ethnic diversity are 21% and 33% more likely to have financial returns above their national industry medians
Not only that, a strong commitment to diverse and inclusive culture is also good for attracting and keeping new talent, something tht executives believe is essentiel for future business success:
- 67% of prospective job seekers said that a diverse workface is an important factor when considering job offers
- When choosing an emloyer, three in ten Generation Z workers say diversity and inclusion is very important and over 50% say that positive work culture is very important
Diversity day 2021
Since 2013, numerous institutions nationwide have participated at the German Diversity Day, an initiative of the Charta der Vielfalt e.V. The University of applied science Kiel and the CAU, among others, have long been signatories of the Diversity Charter. The German Diversity Day is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) as part of the funding program “Integration through Qualification (IQ)”.
